Introduction to Machine Sewing, Mar. 23 (Sun), 10-4pm, Catskill, NY
Instructor: Anna Svoboda-Stel
Class Description:
Introduction to Machine Sewing is a beginner level class for those who would like to learn the basics on how to operate and successfully sew on a Singer Heavy Duty sewing machine. Participants will design and sew a custom tote bag. In the first part of the class, participants will learn the mechanics of how a sewing machine works, how to thread the machine, how to properly adjust and set tension, and practice basic stitches on sample fabrics. In the second part of the class, participants will be guided through a small project of designing and sewing their own customized tote bags using colorful high-quality materials. For customization, tote bag modifications can include shape and size, strap/handle length and width, pockets, appliqués, and boxed corners. This class is designed for those new to machine sewing and those that would like a refresher. All materials and equipment will be provided, but feel free to bring your own fabric if you have some you’d like to use (medium-weight, non-stretch woven fabric). There is the option to bring and work on your own sewing machine provided it is operational and in good condition. Please specify during checkout whether you will be bringing your own machine or using a studio machine, or email info@catskillweavingschool.com with any questions.
Level: Beginner

Cancellation Policy:
Please consider carefully before signing up for one of our classes, loom rentals, or purchasing a class for another person. Due to the small class size for in-person workshops and the limited number of looms, each person makes an important contribution to the group dynamic and cancelling within short notice can make it difficult to fill your spot. If you do need to cancel, please be aware of our policies:
If the cancellation is 30 or more days before the start of the workshop, you have the option of rescheduling or receiving a full refund minus a $25 processing fee. If the cancellation is fewer than 30 days from the start of the workshop, this results in forfeiture of your entire course fee. If your spot can be from the waitlist, then you will only pay the $25 processing fee, regardless of timing.
No refunds will be given on gift certificates. (Updated 05/05/2024)
